Superintendent's MessageMany changes ahead....For the best.
Change is constant; at least that is what I hear. It is most definitely true in education, though it does take time. The switch to Common Core Standards, technology revolutionizing education, and continued challenges in school finance reform, is creating a great opportunity for Antelope Elementary School District. As we move away from the familiar California State Standards, we are embracing the in-depth instruction, higher level thinking, and learning by inquiry that will be required under the Common Core Standards. In anticipation of this shift, and the ever increasing role of technology, Antelope Elementary will be revising its Strategic/LEA plan in the coming months. This plan was originally approved three years ago. In addition, the district will be taking on three new schools. Manton Elementary, Plum Valley Elementary, and Mineral Elementary, will be lapsing into the district. This move will benefit the districts in the area of programs, financial stability, and academic interventions. To take on the new challenges, the board has taken action already to support our students and staff. A Director of Curriculum and Assessment position was created to support teachers. A Full-time Pupil Services Coordinator was created to increase services such as; counseling, attendance, behavior management training, and student centered programs. Finally, I will be moving to Berrendos Middle School to serve as Principal, while maintaining the Superintendent duties. Antelope Elementary will be hiring a full-time Principal and will focus solely on the needs of Antelope Elementary. Yes, lots of changes. I encourage you all to attend the Parent/Community Meeting Tuesday, May 7th at 7:00pm in the Antelope Cafeteria. I will be covering in more detail these changes, as well as other updates from the district. It is exciting times, and I am looking forward to sharing them with you.

Questions? Call the Antelope Office at 527-1272 Electrical Outage
On Thursday, March 14th, the Antelope Elementary School experienced a power outage. A decision was made at 9:45am to dismiss school early. The reason for this decision was based on the safety and welfare of our students. When power is out, we are unable to prepare meals, and our septic system backs up quickly. Shortly after the decision was made to close school, and issue an all call, the power was restored. We are sorry about the inconvenience, and appreciate your cooperation in this situation.
In addition, there was a lot of information being sent via social media in regards to the school dismissing early prior to the decision being made. I understand that facebook, twitter, and other social media networks are an incredible way of communicating; however, when it comes to information regarding school related items, please be sure to check the facts with the school via the district website, or office. An all call will be sent as an official notification.
The district is committed to communicate successfully with parents when it comes to power outages, and potential emergencies. We will post information regarding situations like these on our website as they materialize. The website address is www.antelopeschools.org. Also, we will be verifying with parents what primary phone number to contact on any all call. Again, thanks for your patience, and your support is much appreciated. |
